Russell, Margaret Graham Public Deposited
Born in Dayton, Ohio. She began her career with the Sidney (OH) Daily News in 1935. She married one of her supervisors, Marion W. Russell, on May 5, 1946, after he returned from military service. Her career was interrupted while she raised two daughters.
She joined the staff of Coin World in 1960 as assistant to the editor and historical researcher. She was promoted to editor in 1962. She served on the Assay Commission for 1964. She received the ANA Medal of Merit in 1967, the NLG "Clemy" award in 1971 and the ANA Ferran Zerbe award in 1975. She was named "Great Lady of ANA" in 1979. She served on the American Revolution Bicentennial Commission Coins and Medals Advisory Panel in 1970 and as co-chairman in 1972. She retired as editor of Coin World February 28, 1985. In 1986 she was elected to the ANA Hall of Fame. In 1993 she received the ANA Lifetime Achievement award. In 2004 she received the Burnett Anderson Memorial Award for Excellence in Numismatic Writing. She was a member of the Rittenhouse Society.
She died in Sidney, Ohio.
