Born in Pleasureville, Pennsylvania. Received B.S. from Gettysburg College in 1926. Married to Pauline N. Nickol July 30, 1927. Employed as a salesman with Proctor and Gamble 1926 to 1966.
He was a charter member and secretary of the Philadelphia Coin Club 1942 to 1952 and president 1952 to 1954. Served as president of the Middle Atlantic Numismatic Association in 1963. He served on the ANA board of governors 1957 to 1967. Served as 35th ANA President August 12, 1967, to August 16, 1969. He received the ANA Medal of Merit in 1962. He was appointed to the U. S. Assay Commission for 1968.
He was a Mason and a Shriner. He died in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
