  • Born in Eagle Grove, Iowa. He operated an amateur radio station 1921 to 1926. Graduate of Iowa State University with B.S. in 1928. Received M.S. from Union College in 1935. Married to Hazel I. Letts May 3, 1930. Electronics engineer for General Electric from 1928 until retirement in 1972.

    Williamson began collecting coins in 1917 and has done extensive research on U. S. coinage. He contributed several articles to Coin World, The Colonial Newsletter, The Numismatist, Penny-Wise and Seaby's Coin & Medal Bulletin. Author of "Lynchburg (VA) City Paper Money of 1862" in America's Currency published by ANS in 1985.

    Williamson was a member of ANA, NBS, NLG, TAMS and other numismatic organizations. He was a charter member of the Empire State Numismatic Association in 1949. He served on the ANS Committee on U. S. Coins 1951 to 1976 and as chairman in 1953. He became an ANS fellow in 1957. He was a charter member of EAC in 1967. His collection of large cents was consigned to the EAC sale in 1983. President Johnson appointed him to the 1968 Assay Commission and he remains a member of the Old Time Assay Commissioners Society. He is also a member of the Masons.
