Bio
  • Born in Staunton, Virginia. Graduate of Princeton in 1879. Studied law and admitted to the bar in 1882. Received Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins in 1886. Married Ellen Louise Axson June 24, 1885. She died in 1914. Married Edith Bolling Galt December 18, 1915. They had three children. Taught as a professor at Princeton. Served as president of the University 1902 to 1911.

    Elected Governor of New Jersey and served 1911 to 1913. Elected President and served March 4, 1913, to March 3, 1921. Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize December 10, 1920. He died in Washington, D.C. Wilson appears on paper money:

    Wilson appears on the presidential medal (USM 127) with dies by George T. Morgan. It was first issued in 1913.

    Wilson appears on the Assay Commission Medal for 1914 (AC-58). The 45 mm medal has an obverse by Barber and reverse by Morgan. The medals for 1919 (AC-63), 1920 (AC-64) and 1921 (AC-65) share the same die. The three reverses are different.
