Bruff, Joseph Goldsborough Öffentlichkeit Deposited
Born and died in Washington, D.C. He graduated from West Point in 1849. He travelled to the California gold fields in April 1849 and recorded his observations. Employed with the Bureau of Topographical Engineers. Later employed with the office of the supervising architect for the Treasury Department 1876 to 1889.
Bruff designed the obverse of the Cyrus Field medal (Julian PE-10) to be engraved by William Barber.
