  • National Archives entry description: BULLION LEDGERS. 1794-1844, 1850-72. 13 vols. 4 ft. In addition to accounts relating to the bullion fund, these ledgers also contain accounts relating to uncoined copper and to gold and silver bullion; accounts of the Chief Coiner, the Melter and Refiner, and the Treasurer of the Mint relating to gold and silver bullion, to copper, to gold and silver coins reserved for assaying, and to gold, silver, and copper coinage; accounts of the Bank of the United States and accounts of other banks relating to gold, silver, and copper coins; and accounts of persons conducting business with the Philadelphia Mint. The entries are arranged by type of account and thereunder chronologically. This material was scanned in Philadelphia under the direction of R.W. Julian, operating through a grant from the Central States Numismatic Society.
