His name is incorrectly spelled Yablum in some references.
Owner of the Chicago Coin Co. He disappeared in Los Angeles on Friday the Thirteenth of August, 1978, with $100,000 in coins in his possession.
He was on his way to the 1978 ANA Convention. After he was reported missing, a body was found at the convention hotel. Althought there was initial suspicion that the body was Yablun, it was not.
His body was discovered a year later buried near Yosemite National Park.
His partner, Frank Lapa, was convicted of the murder. Two co-conspirators also did not fare well. Powell Crosby and his wife were found shot to death in a motel in 1977, possibly a murder-suicide. Lee S. Rusetos disappeared a month later.
The Los Angeles detective on the case was named Sherman Oakes.
The larger story could be the subject for a book or movie.
