Bio

• Born in Philadelphia. Admitted to the bar in 1808. Married Margaret Wistar in 1814. His son, Richard Vaux, was mayor of Philadelphia.

  A founder of the Historical Society of Philadelphia. Member of the American Philosophical Society.

  Author of Memoirs of the life of Anthony Benezet (1817). It mentions an Indian Peace Medal.
