Noe managed a $50 million fund for the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation. Under the parent company of Vintage Coins & Collectibles, Noe invested funds with Capital Coins Ltd., Visionary Rare Coins, Numismatic Professionals, Rare Coin Alliance and Karl D. Hirtzinger. Following investigations by The Toledo Blade, Now was charged with mis-managing the funds. Noe was found guilty on November 13, 2006, of theft, money laundering, forgery and corrupt activity. On November 20, 2006 he was sentenced to 18 years is state prison. The events are known as the “Coingate” scandal.
