National Archive series description: This series consists of records of determinations of ore samples. These volumes record information concerning ore samples brought to the U.S. Mint, Denver, by private individuals. The samples were usually from private mining claims, and the Mint would provide an analysis of them. Information given includes the date received, receipt number, name and address of individual, description of sample, date reported, ounces of gold or silver per ton, value per ton, the percentage of other materials in the sample, rate of silver per ounce, charges collected, and associated remarks..
