• Born in Schenectady, New York. Graduated from Cornell University. Married to Doris Burgess. Served as a missionary in Liberia 1919 to 1923. Owner of John L. Thompson & Co in the pharmaceutical business.
  

  His collection was sold at auction by Stack’s in two sales in 1979 and 1982.

  He died in Troy, New York.
