Chemical engineer and travelling salesman for DuPont. He transitioned into a coin dealer with the Red Cent Coin Company in 1964. In 1972 he acquired rights to the Charleton name from Jack Alexander Forbes. He also acquired International Stamp Co, and merged them into Charleton International Publishing. President of the Canadian Association of Numismatic Dealers 1976-1980.
Founder with Brian Cromwell and Ingrid K. Smith of the International Coin Certification Service (I.C.C.S.) in November 1986. He was the honorary chair of the ANA World’s Fair of Money in 2014.
He took over as editor with the 31st edition of the Standard Catalogue of Canadian Coins. Publisher or editor of Canadian Colonial Tokens; The Charleton Standard Catalogue of Canadian Coins (1995).
