• Born at Cherryville, Pennsylvania. Unmarried. He developed the S, H. Kress & Co. with more than 2000 retail locations. Collector of Renaissance art and medals. He donated his collection to various museums and contributed to establishment of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D. C.
