• Born at Kirkburton, Yorkshire. Served with the British Army for 37 years, rising to the rank of major.

  Author of The Coins of the British Commonwealth of Nations (1952), in four parts; Coins and Coinages of the Straits Settlements and British Malaysia, 1786-1951 (1955); Modern Coins and Notes of Cyprus (1974).
