• Born at Stechford, Warwickshire,
  

  Served as a wireless operator in the Merchant Navy during WWI.
  Curator at the British Museum. President of the British Numismatic Society 1964-65. Author of English, Tin and Bronze Coins in the British Museum: 1558-1958.
  He died in a hospital at Tooting.
