Keith, Kenneth Publique Deposited

Bio
  • Nephew of Benjamin, brother of James, unmarried.
In 1971 he donated Mexican silver coins to the ANA valued at $50,000. This was publicized in 1972 and came to the attention of local criminals. A group including Clyde Burn, Earl Culwell, Alton Fanchier Jr., Lonnie Dale Loyd and William Pinson conducted a burglary on July 12, 1975.
During the burglary, James Keith was killed while Kenneth was bound. No coins were found but James’ gun collection was taken. The ANA offered a $5,000 reward that was claimed by Culwell who informed on Pinson. Pinson was convicted in 1977 and Keith died shortly after the trial.
In his will, Keith donated stock in the Ben E, Keith company to the ANA.
