Bio
  • Born at Brunswick, Maine. Attended U.S. Military Academy at West Point 1824 to 1829. Served at Fort Crawford, Wisconsin and Fort Snelling, Minnesota 1829 to 1831. Taught drawing at West Point 1833 to 1840. Served in the Florida War 1840 to 1841. Returned to Fort Snelling 1841 to 1848. Worked on illustrations for Henry Schoolcraft's book on Indian Tribes of the United States. He retired from military service in 1863. He died in Washington, D.C.

    He designed the Duncan Ingraham medal (Julian NA-26) to honor the rescue of Martin Koszta.
