I am in the market for a new scanner to replace my 300 dpi visioneer. I was
ahppy with the visioneer but I see that it (and most new models) only
handle 12" paper size. I am looking for the following:

    1) usb interface a must, parallel or scsi option would be nice.

    2) At least 600x1200 optical res, preferably higher

    3) 8.5x14" paper capacity

    4) Fast scanning speed (this may be THE MOST important issue for me)

5)) $300 price range (or less)

Any input from anyone who has used a later model scanner would be
    appreciated!

As some of you may know, I was assigned the task of managing the
digitization of the C4 library, comprised of 3500 photos. I plan on using
teenage slave labor for the effort, but this scanner is my first step in
preparation for the project. Scanning speed is most important to me (do the
math and see what I mean?).

Does anyone know if USB is faster/slower/same transfer rate (real world) as
    SCSI???

    Neil
