Thank you very much for your response and the pictures. After looking at your pictures, my coin, I am lead to believe that the second letter is definitely "L" and not "E" as I've been advised outside of this group.
Believe also that the correct legend is "GLORIUVS III. VIS." Looking at your scanned group, looking at my coin the second O is too different from the first and is actually a U. The letter styling indicates that it is a "U". Of course somebody with an "AU" will come along and blow that theory out of the water.
Think Mr. Wood is correct in the assumption that the reverse legend is "BITIT". Spent -4- hours last night checking this.
However, it must be noted that "assume" breaks down into "ASS-U-Me" and I've been on the south end of the North bound Jackass many times.
Gord, thank you very much for the assistance and the pictures. This along with comments by George Fuld and others at least clarifies some to the mystery. I look forward to reading the monograph as referenced on these.

Wood reported the spelling "GLORIOVS III. VIS." So apparently he never saw an "E". I have heard it said that the second letter on the reverse is an R. Nicer specimens that I have seen do show at least the lower crossbar emerging. Wood left the inscription open to speculation and put forth "BITIT" for consideration. I have noticed two die states I think due to rust, leaving to debate any specific date attribution in my mind at least. I had heard that "Wood 33" was deleted from the Blacksmith lineup a long time ago. I would think it still has a place in the Evasion category though. > I hope this adds to any confusion. > Gord > > Byron > I don't have a copy of Atkins. What number is it in Cobwright?
