    Changing the thread from PDVs, here is an ANS/Canfield CT with the Hall attribution number on the left, and the Miller number on the right. My apologies to Robert and Neil for spilling (some of) the beans.

    Very interesting. Maybe there is something to this
    speculation. It certainly could be possible. Has there
    ever been an article written about inking up coins
    with their attributions in old or new journals or
    auction catalogs? I know Stack's has one CT specimen
    cataloged as a Painted Die Variety online. I never
    looked for this in my auction catalogs before. Has any
    correspondence from collectors in old files or in
    archives ever been found that discuss this? I find
    this very interesting. Thanks for all your very good
    input to all that have contributed to this thread.
