It appears the magazine referred to them as medals. The link includes a quote from *The Bath Journal *1773 giving the rationale for inclusion in the series, but the person making the choice is not identified likely the publisher?). I'm not a member of the "Coin People" forum, but I've applied for membership so that I can ask the poster for further information.
