Jeff,
Checked my notes and you did own and offered one of Newman=92s Muttonheads,= a late die state 1.2-C in your FPL #12 (1997) and later reoffered it in FP= L #14 (1999). A circle =93H=94 cardboard ticket accompanied this coin annot= ated in Hall=92s script and later acquired and inked by W.W. Hays. I don=92= t recall if Newman=92s envelope accompanied this coin.=20

Bruce, if it was bought 10 years ago it isn't a Keller envelope -- he didn'= t sell anything while he was alive, and while some things were stolen from = him in the 1960's those were his Mass silver and coppers (and certainly wou= ldn't have been in the same envelopes!). So maybe it is a Newman piece. E= ric also didn't part with things, though he did sell a group to Mike Ringo = at a very low price in return for some work Mike did for him with his colle= ction. I had one of those pieces, a Muttonhead I think, on an earlier pric= e list from the 1990's. I think I had a pic of the envelope there too -- i= f you don't have my earlier lists, let me know and I will see if I can loca= te it!

I own a few Connecticut coppers, that I acquired privately approximat= ely 20 years ago from Eric Newman=92s collection. The coins were accompanie= d with Eric=92s handwritten annotated envelopes. The envelopes are rectangu= lar in shape (1 & 3/4=94 x 2 & 7/8 =93) and made of brown Manila type stock= paper with a curved reverse flap. The envelopes show a center crease from = folding for entry into a stock box. Eric=92s annotations on the envelopes i= nclude handwritten attribution, weigh in grams and a % code (20%)....I susp= ect some kind of cost code.
